PEN MALTA STATEMENT:

“PEN Malta strongly believes that the decision by the court to give Yorgen Fenech bail five years after being charged in connection with the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia underlines the chronic, unjust delays in our justice system.

It also exposes the government's unwillingness to fix it. Fenech joins a long list of suspects allowed out of prison, with no date set for their jury, despite the unbearable pain it imposes on family and friends of the victim.

It is clear to everyone that our justice system is broken, even when it concerns the most high-profile case in years.”
